Microsoft SharePoint Look Book Templates

What are Look Book templates and how are they used?

These templates are provided by Microsoft and are designed to help you get started with SharePoint Online. If you’re already familiar with the platform you know that you can create communications as well as teams sites. What the Look Book templates bring is an enhanced user experience to build these sites. Watch our full webinar to get the scoop.

What sites can you build?

Not only websites with a pleasing user interface but also a means to create sites for different use cases without extensive coding. The Look Books are a combination of web parts that Microsoft provides that can be used to support different use cases such as onboarding, project management, HR communications, and so on. They are a great starting point for you to build out the site you need.

Are they easy to configure?

Some of the web parts you can use include sliding hero images, news, weather, locations, social media feeds, internal feeds, yammer/internal conversations, quick links, navigation elements and much more depending on what type of site you need. You can also create hub sites with common navigation and themes across your site.

Are they responsive?

They are designed to be responsive and for any device, so you don’t have to write custom CSS. They format themselves appropriately and are multilingual out of the box. Limited custom branding is available via custom palettes, logo insertions, and so on.

How do I get started?

Where do you find them?

You can find them on lookbook.microsoft.com

Find the one that’s closest to what you want and start with that one. You can download a PDF of the Look Book you like to share with your team members and get their input.

How do you get to access them / into your Microsoft Tenant?

You will need the following before you’re able to access the Look Book you’d like to use:

  • Global Admin credentials for your Microsoft tenant
  • The App Catalog installed
  • You need to be the administrator of the App Catalog.

Add them by just clicking the button, and provision your template straight away.

Do I need to know how to code?

Not at all, these are designed for power users and citizen developers with no knowledge of HTML, CSS, or additional code, allowing your business users to build what they need.

How can I tailor the information my users see?

You can target information by audience and through leveraging Azure Active Directory. You are able to tailor the content feed based on user location, permissions, and role. You can target content to specific groups as well as to individuals who will see their most frequented/often used sites, or last opened documents. If needed, you can also push content to individuals that might be of interest to them.

What about analytics?

With built-in analytics, interested parties see what, when and who has been interacting with the content provided. Analytics cover both page and site level usage.

There is much more to Look Books than this. Watch our full webinar to get the scoop. Don’t forget to join us on August 16th to learn more about Adobe Acrobat’s integration into Microsoft 365.
